PrintPlayer Code Of Conduct

Player Code of Conduct

Port Dover Minor Baseball Association Objectives:

1.       To promote sports and sportsmanship through the development of baseball in Port Dover.

2.       To provide a safe environment in which all players have the right to play.

3.       To protect and promote the mutual interest of its players

4.       To manage and regulate House League and Representative Divisions, their players, parent, umpires and scheduling.

We, the Port Dover Minor Baseball Association have implemented the following Sport Player Code of Conduct for the important message it holds regarding player expectations throughout the baseball season.

I therefore agree:

1.       I will play the game for the game’s sake and not just for parents or coach.

2.       I will be modest and generous when I win and gracious when I lose.

3.       I will respect the game of baseball and its rules, learn these rules and try to follow them and play  the game fairly.

4.       I will always sprint on and off the field.  The effect of hustle in a game is contagious and positively impacts your team and shows your opponent you will not give up.

5.         I will work for the good of my team and give my best effort at all times.

6.       I will show respect for the authority of the umpire, even though I will sometimes disagree with his/her calls.

7.       I will not leave the dugout to speak to my parent or guardian unless specifically authorised by the coach for a justifiable reason.

8.       I will show good sportsmanship before, during and after the game.  I understand that baseball is a game, and that the players on the other team are my opponents, not my enemies.

9.       I will conduct myself with honor and dignity and treat other players as I would like to be treated.

10.   I will help my parents and fans understand the rules of the game so t hey can watch and enjoy the game better.  I will be sure they understand that dissent is not permitted.

11.   I will control my temper and not retaliate, even if I believe I have been wronged.

12.   I will work on improving my skills and help my team mates to improve their skills.

13.   I will not be selfish; my team mates deserve the same chances as I do.

I acknowledge that penalties as laid out in the OBA and PDMBA rules for non compliance will be imposed and agree to comply with such penalties subject to any appeal procedures that are available to me.
